Earth rotating faster again

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) TOKYO, Sept. 30. The Earth has been rotating faster by one-2000th of a second a day since last December, possibly affected by meteorological factors in the Southern Hemisphere, the Tokyo Astronomical Observatory reports. The faster rotation, the first for 10 years, was observed by a photographic Zenith telescope in Japan and by similar observations in other parts of the world. Abnormally high temperatures have been reported in Antarctica, heavy rainfalls in Argentina, Brazil, and Australia, and droughts in SouthEast Asia and Western Africa.
