JENKINS, TOO

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, Sept. 26. The Home Secretary (Mr Roy Jenkins) has made it plain that he. too, will resign from the Labour Cab : net if Britain withdraws from the European Common Market. Mr Jenkins’s statement, issued in Birmingham, has conie as no surprise, because he has long been just as staunch an advocate of Common Market membership as the Minister for Prices and Consumer Protection (Mrs Shirley Wiliams). “My conviction that it would be a major mistake for Britain to come out of Europe is as strong as Mrs Williams’s,” Mr Jenkins says.
