Right of the born child
Sir, — “Concerned for the Born,” brings before us a very real need in our society; perhaps not so much in the normal everyday life of these little ones, but there is a very urgent need for financial assistance with medical expenses. Whereas the normal child may need a doctor occasionally, these children are under constant care by specialists — pediatricians, eye specialists, neurologists — and they are not accepted for free treatment at dental clinics. Most have regular appointments with one or more specialists, at a cost to the parents of $6 or $8 each visit, some have a regular visit to their doctor for medication, at the usual fee. As far as I know, there is no financial assistance available to the parents of handicapped children in this or any other area. I would ask members of Parliament to bring this matter to the Government’s notice. — Yours, etc., CONCERNED GRANDPARENT. September 25, 1974.
