Has been mixing racing and followed steeples win at Rotorua with weakening ninth on flat at Te Rapa on September 14. D. Peake 3 6572 MEDIATE (21) 53.5. Once top middle-distance runner which looked ready for come-back at last start when unlucky second behind Roylyn at Tauranga. Prospect on that form. D. Wyatt 4 0007 AHJAY (9) 52.5. Game old trier but seems to have had more than his share of racing lately with little success. P. Haitana 5 6150 ROYLYN (8) 51.5. Bas looked a very fair stayer on occasions, especially in very soft going. At his best would be right in the finish. M. Austin 6 6377 MR SOVEREIGN (18) 51. Once good sprinter but form now very patchy. Yet to do much at this distance. 7 0827 PUKEPAPA LAD (7) 50.5. Turned in solid performance at start before last when close second at Foxton but failed to show same dash last time. T. Williams!

Fair middle-distance runner at best but failed to win in a good many attempts last season. B. Compton 9 5600 JINDIVIK (16) 50. Looked very good winter galloper couple of seasons back but form disappointing lately. P. Johnson 10 7747 TETRARCH'S GIFT (17) 50. Getting near veteran stage but shows occasional form. Always a place chance. 11 0000 TRICIMIST (22) 50. Developed good form during first half of last season. Needed latest race. Worth watching. W. Robinson 12 6491 DELLA RAY (4) 49.5. Regarded as best in heavy ground but came up with solid win at last start at Avondale when going only slightly soft. Stays well at best. Jias to be considered. G. Edqe 13 0404 FORE DOLLAR (13) 49.5. Has managed two respectable fourths lately, but well beaten in between times. However, last-start form on this course gives him a chance. G. Chitty 14 1010 KAIPIPI (20) 49.5. Won recently at Rotorua and Hastings but may have trouble lasting out this distance. M. Sullivan 15 0575 LORD HUNTER (11) 49.5. Best recent effort was second to Sakata on this course in July. Not as good lately. G. McLeish 16 0600 DON'S JOY (5) 49. Failed to win or show form of any account in n fair number of attempts last season and has not been prominent in three
starts this term after a spell. N.Riordan 17 0960 FATHER JOHN (2) 49. Once promising distance runner which has failed to come up to expectations. Has given little encouragement in four starts this season. R. Elliott 18 0058 KOTARE LASS (6) 49. Has had a long string of failures since win over weak field at Gisborne about 12 months ago. K. Reggett 19 4000 CAPTAIN GENERAL (10) 48.5. Fair performer at best but tailed field last start when resuming after a let-up. 20 5928 CHEVARNY (1) 48. Dis appointing at Avondale but close second to Cobland at Ellerslie last month. Good chance on Ellerslie form. Balloted out in order of reentry:— 21 0090 MIGHTY SUSAN (3) 48. Failed to win in dozen or so starts last season and has been well beaten in two races this term. K. Agnew 22 0000 SEVEN LAURELS (12) 48. Racing too badly to be rated even a faint prospect. (T.A.B. closes 2.40 p.m.) 3.50 p.m.— NORWOOD HANDICAP $2000; 1200 m. 1 3912 GOLD REWARD (12) 55.5. Promising stayer having first run since last April. Would probably need this. W. Robinson 2 0464 MATAPU (11) 55.5. Showed tine form on bad tracks in last few months. Chance here. G. Edge 3 4022 TIMON (4) 55.5. Honest
little stayer which has not started since last May. Won at Avondale trials recently and should be tough. 4 5158 CATAMARAN (16) 55. Showed bursts of good sprinting form in winter but
generally unreliable. Could still show up here. 5 0990 BRYLEE (1) 54.5. Last home at Tauranga last Saturday. Looks to have lost form altogether. K. Cullen 6 2376 MAHAL (8) 53. Looked good as stayer last autumn. Sixth when resuming at Tauranga last Saturday. Might trouble. R. Marsh 7 7019 VILLAGE OAK (3) 52.5. Well back when resuming from five month lay-off at Te Rapa on September 14. Might need more racing. 8 0008 SOLAR BOY (13) 51. Long out of form and hard to fancy. T. Bryden 9 0980 CRADENLY (9) 50.5. Failed to win in 12 starts last season. Should be one of outsiders. 10 3127 KASHMIR BELLE (5) 50.5. Looked classy last season but disappointed when resuming from spell at Awapuni on September! 14. Should be better for that run. D. Peake 11 3935 MIDNIGHT CHIEF (14) 50.5. Speedy, but doesn't win out of turn. Place chance only. T. Harrison 12 1078 CRYSTANNI (1) 50. First race since July 27. Hard to fancy. M. Austin 13 3520 GOLD CLOUD (6) 50. Looks outclassed in this company. M. Sullivan 14 0210 LARDALETTE (2) 50. Won three from 16 Starts last season. Does not look up to this class though. B. Compton 15 3060 MOON ROCK (15) 50. Has had enforced spell from racing for ucarly 10 months. I
Always goes well fresh. Could win if right. D. Southworth 16 4350 NARITA (7) 50. Won three on end in lower classes last autumn. Has not started since June but entitled to respect, P. Johnson
