Services levy at Rangiora

A new services levy will be charged on all new subdivisions in the Rangiora area.

The levy, which has been adopted by both the Rangiora Borough Council and Rangiora County Council, will effectively revalue all the undeveloped sections in Rangiora. For a'l new lots involving

subdivisions, a $3OO amenities levy will be charge, comprising $l5O for sewerage and $l5O for water. A recent meeting of both councils resulted in the idea of the levy, and plans for stormwater disposal will be drawn up as a result of the matter being discussed at the combined meeting. Cr B. R. Hassall, explaining the charge, said: “It is to relieve some of the burden on existing ratepayers in the borough. New ratepayers in new subdivisions will be contrib” < d"° r towards the cost of amenities which have been paid for by ratepayers of long standing, it is also to enable us to car y out development of the services at the rate we require them.”
