Brisk bidding for former Kiwis
(N.Z.P.A. Staff Correspondent) SYDNEY. Sydney Rugby league clubs were battling each other yesterday to obtain the services next season of the former Kiwis, H. Tatana and B. J. Lowther.
Canterbury - Bankstown, which bought the two players in a $24,000 package deal at the start of the 1972 season, has put them on the transfer list. Both Tatana and Lowther have been unhappy at Canterbury this season and have played most of their football in the reserve grade. Tatana, however, went on as a replacement when Canterbury was soundly beaten
by Eastern Suburbs in the first grade grand final last Saturday. “Clubs wanting both or either of the New Zealanders can negotiate a deal with us, but they will not be cheap after what we have paid out,” the Canterbury secretary (Mr P. M,oore) said yesterday. St George, South Sydney, Cronulla-Sutherland and Balmain are expected to be the main bidders for the Kiwis.
