Tight match between top squash teams
Warmer conditions produced longer games in the men’s A; grade squash rackets competition. The encounter between the two leading teams. BurnsideChrist’s College and High School Old Boys, lasted just on lour ! hours. A determined recovery bv J. G. Foulds when down 2-8. in the third set against W. J. Tolchard, enabled Burnside-Christ’s College to win the match, nine games to eight, and increase its lead to six points. There was keen and close competition throughout the battle between the competition leaders. A shock win to G. Jenkinson over J. Moseley gave the Old Boys I a good start but R. Blank lev. elled the matches by overtaking R. McCutcheon from two sets behind. Then it was the top players’ turn. L. C. Sparks managed to’ take the first game from V .1 W. Hargreaves by bustling him into errors. but Hargreaves settled down and quickls asserted his mastery.
