Change to bowls scoring

The three singles championships—open, champion-of-cham-pions and colts—conducted by the Christchurch Bowling Centre, will be played under the points system, not the ends system, in the coming season. Instead of a match being of 21 ends, the winner will be the first player to score 21 points. The change, prompted by the Commonwealth Games was approved by the New Zealand Bowling Association in June, but it decided to wait until the 1975-76 season before adopting it for the national tournament. Centres were left to decide for themselves If they wished to make the change sooner. At its meeting last evening, the Christchurch centre agreed to begin this year.

Clubs have been given the choice but now that the centre has given a lead, it is likely that most clubs will follow suit.
