Bill to curb abortions

WELLINGTON. August 29. Notice of a private members’ bill which

would restrict lhe performance of abortions to public hospitals was given in Parliament today by Dr G. A. Wall (Lab., Porirua).

Dr Wall said after a caucus | meeting today that he hoped: to introduce the bill next Tuesday and, because the issue was one of conscience, members would have a free vote. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists had said it was concerned about abortions performed under uncontrolled conditions in private institutions.
