Poetry on record
Ponts on Record Xi rnd XII. Randolph Stow and Peter Porter. Univanity of Queensland Press. The latest records in this series from the University of Queensland Press continue the excellent scheme pf bringing the written and spoken words of poetry together. There are large differences in the reading styles of these two poets, as indeed there is in their poetry Peter Porter has a fairly light voice, Randolph Stow speaks with a deep, almost exaggerated slowness. Both? however, are inclined to read in a monotone, and this detracts from their readings slightly. Obviously, the poets have chosen some of their strongest poems. But unfortunately they are not able to transmit fully the feelings and imagery of their poetry through their voices. Nevertheless, these additions to the series indicate how Australian poetry has expanded in recent years.
