Canterbury next spring.
He will be based at Flaxton. on the property of Mr Stum Wood, who is well New Zealand, bdt is embarking on his first venture in
the realm of the thorough- ■ "This is very much a fami ily affair, just as we have made our show ring interests a family affair,” Mr Wood said yesterday Taxco. a grey of 17 hands, was foaled in 1968 and belongs to the first crop of Silver Shark (by Buisson Ardent), whose sale to Japan , has been widely lamented in Europe. ■ Stiver Shark, whose dam was by Palestine, won 10 races up to a mile and __ a quarter and earned $147,650. He was sold to Japan after string Sharp Edge, lhe 1973 Irish Two Thousand Guineas winner. Silver Birch, which
was unbeaten at two years; and Karayar, which after winning or reaching a place: in 10 of his 15 starts, was syndicated at $200,000 to, stand at Haunui Farm, near Auckland. Stakes winner Taxco at two years wonr the Balaton Lodge Stakes at; Newmarket and at three the St Roches Handicap at; Goodwood. Taxco’s dam. Miba, won;
three races including the Princess Elizabeth Stakes at Epsom and the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket. Miba is by Ballymossi from Stop Your Tickling,] which (no bonus points! here) wasired by Jock. The next dam, Senatrixl won three races, and left' Socrates, winner of six including the Manchester Cup, ■ and Pundit, which won 12 before being bought for stud duties in Nev Zealand. ————————
