The RATA award competition is getting under • way again The awards judge New Zea.ard music •nd musicians in various categories, and the winners will appear in a final televised show at the Christchurch Town Hail. Most of the local record companies have entered their artists for consideration and among these are a number of per- ' formers, singles and albums selected by E.M.I. for the competition. Alan Galbraith. Mark Williams, and Craig Scott have all been entered in the Top Male Vocal and Single of the Year sections, and EMI. groups competing include Split Enz, Bulldog s Allstar Goodtime Band, Rockinghorse, The Yandal! Sisters and Quincy Conserve Anna Leah is a competitor in the Top Female Vocal section, and the Quincy Conserve, Rockinghorse and the Bulldogs all have their albums submitted in various categories. Among the E-M.I. records involved in the RATA awards are “Celebration” (Mark Williams); “Homburg” (Alan Galbraith); “Blacksmith Blues” (Anna Leah); “Sweet Talkin’ Spoon Song” and “One Two Nine” (Split Enz); “Take A Stronger Look” and “Good Old Rock’n’ Roll’* (Rockinghorse); “Durango* (Craig Scott);

“Put A Little Love Away” (The Yandall Sistars); and “Dance The Stars Away,” “Summer Skies,” “Baby

Get Out,” “Everyone Knows” and “Miss September” — all from the somewhat demented Bulldogs.
