Charges up for freight
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 31. A 21 per cent increase in freight rates in non-contract cargo from New Zealand has been announced by the Overseas Shipowners’ Committee, to become effective on October 1. The general secretary of the association (Mr L. A. Riley) said that the lines had hoped there would be a general improvement on the turnround times of their vessels on the north-bound trade, but the position had deteriorated.
