Week-end walks on the hills

As part of Nature Conservation Week, the Summit Road Scenic Society has arranged a series of walks—ranging from 30min to five hours — for Saturday afternoon.

The walks will start from Victoria Park at 1.30 p.m. and members of the society will be on hand to give out information leaflets and maps and to act as guides. The shortest walk of 30mins starts from the Sign of the Kiwi and does a circuit around Coronation Hill and another unnamed hill and back. A one-hour walk can be taken on Ella’s Track to Kennedy’s Bush and two hours can be spent from Victoria Park to the Summit Road then along Mitchell’s Track, through the Sugar Loaf scenic reserve, to the Sign of the Kiwi and back to the starting point.

The longest .valk of five hours can be spent on the return trip from Victoria Park to the Sign of the Bellbird. just past Kennedy’s Bush.
