Triplets at Calvary

Mrs Elizabeth Mountford, aged 25, of Avondale Road, Burwood, has given birth to triplets — all boys — at Calvary' Hospital.

The three babies who were born on Wednesday, will bring the number of children under three in the Mountford family to five. There are already two daughters in the family, the elder being three next month.

Mrs Mountford, who was told six weeks ago thatshe would be having triplets, said that she had hoped for a boy among them. “My husband, Bryan, was a bit overwhelmed when he found out about the boys,” she said. “I still find it unbelievable.” Two of the babies, Michael Bryan, who weighed 51b 14oz at birth, and Philip Wayne (51b loz), are with their mother in the hospital. The youngest, Scott Andrew, who weighed 41b 4oz at birth, is in the neo-natal ward at the Christchurch Women’s Hospital, where he is reported to be progressing as well as he should be at this stage.
