Extradition sought

A detective will leave Auckland today for Sydney to seek rhe extradition of a 19-year-old New' Zealand girl on a charge of possessing cannabis for the' purpose of supply. Moves for her extradition} arose from inquiries after} the seizing of a cache of marijuana in an Auckland! house about two months ago.* Believed to be the biggest; haul of its kind made by the police in New Zealand, the marijuana was estimated to be worth more than $lOO,OOO. Detectives think it was the property of a large drugs ring, which intended it fori sale in the Auckland district.! Police inquiries led Detec-j five Inspector B. T. N. Hutton, head of the Auckland drug squad, to Sydney,! where, with Australian | detectives, he saw the New' Zealand girl living in Manly. |
The girl was arrested on a local charge and is due to appear in Manly Court on Wednesday.
