Vic. Laundry div. steady
The unaudited group net profit of the Victoria Laundry Company, Ltd, rose about 28 per cent to about §43,800 in the year to March 31, the directors say in a preliminary report.
An unchanged final dividend of 5c a share (10 per cent) will be paid on September 6, ex-dividend August 16, making a steady 8.75 c for the year.
South African merger
Two of South Africa's largest mining and industrial I companies. Barlow Rand, and [Union Corporation, have said That they had agreed, in prinIciple, to merge. The current stock market value of the new group to be named Unicorp Barlows, would be about $592m and annual taxed earning of the new firm above ls7Bm. Both partners have big I industrial interests. The I Union Corporation controls i seven South African gold Imines.
