AVONDALE WORK

Work costing $6400 will be done by the Christchurch Drainage Board in Avondale to improve the drainage of properties in Glenrowan Avenue and Waratah, Belmont, and Eglington streets. The work, approved by the board last evening, was planned after the board received a petition from 85 householders in the area who requested an improvement after recent flooding.

The block of land is bounded by Avondale Road, the Avondale golf links, Breezes Road, and the board’s own property. The board will also assist with drainage from the separate properties if owners are prepared to share the cost of the work.
