New Zealand will give $lOO,OOO to the Commonwealth Youth Programme to cover its first three years of activities.
The programme was set up last year by the Commonwealth Secretariat, its aim being to foster the wellbeing of the youth of the Commonwealth, especially in developing countries. The Prime Minister (Mr Kirk) said that the programme would have a budget of slm for its first three years. Canada has offered to pay 40 per cent, and Britain 30 per cent with a limit of $300,000.
Mr Kirk said New Zealand would set up a liaison committee for the programme in New Zeialand.
