ENTHUSIASM RUNS OUT ON N.Z. SHAREMARKET
Last week’s newly found enthusiasm ebbed away on the New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. There were twice as many falls as rises, in light trading over a narrow range of issues. Leading issues were active, but most declined, and the index fell more than five points.
Daily volume
A total of 142,350 shares was sold on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday, 9500 fewer than on Friday. Industrial issues totalled 141,650 (Friday 150,550) and mining issues 700 (Friday 1300).
