Strong rises on all sectors in Australia
The Australian market pulled out of its relentless dive of the past several sessions to close on a sharply firmer note in moderately active trading yesterday. All three sections participated in the upsurge in prices.
B.H.P. put on 12c at 682 c and CSR recorded a 12c gain at 365 c. Myers closed 5c dearer at 142 c but Woolworths and E.Z. Industries were slightly weaker, along with Amatil. The banks were mainly steady. Among the miners, Bougainville gained 9c to 156 c and Emperor 10c to 155 c. A.M. and S. advanced 12c to 147 c while Peko-Wal|s-end, Hamersley and C.R.A. put on worthwhile gains. G.M.K. was another to make good progress, with a 12c rise to 110 c. Woodside-Burmah moved 5c higher to 95c, but other oils were mainly quiescent.
