Ordination of women

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. The Waikato Anglican Synod has confirmed its support for plans to ordain women priest's, in spite of opposition from several male priests. The 145-member synod passed a motion supporting a Genera! Synod proposal to aljow women to be ordained, during the second day of its three-day meeting in Hamilton.

The Archbishop of New Zealand and Bishop of Waikato (the Most. Rev. A. H. Johnston) said the motion was merely a constitutional procedure affirming earlier decisions.
