Site chosen for Woodend Hall
The Woodend Hall committee has decided, subject to confirmation by the Rangiora County Council, to use a site near the school and the recreation ground, for a proposed community hall.
At its first meeting, the newly-formed committee decided that it would write to j the council, which owns the i land. . Three sub-committ.eesy 'were formed to get planning and fund-raising moving. The planning sub-committee was commissioned to engage an architect to draw basic sketches.
Avenues of fund-raising and sources of income such as stalls, raffles, working bees and- vegetable growing, as well as rating, will be explored by the finance subcommittee, and a projects sub-committee was formed to implement the moneyraising projects. Planning and fund-raising is to begin immediately. The committee will become
an incorporated society because of the large volume of money it will handle. It will meet under the chairmanship of Mr K. Fowke in three weeks. Mr R. Tirikatene was elected vice-chair-man, Mr A. Nordmeyer secretary, and Mr J. Howarth treasurer.
