CAMPAIGN IN CHINA
Organisations not wanted (N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) PEKING. The Communist Party central authorities in Peking have issued a directive forbidding the formation of mass struggle organisations similar to those set up during the Cultural Revolution, it has been disclosed in Peking. A poster put up by workers from Honan Province indentified this as the contents of No. 12 in the series of 18 directives which the authorities have issued for the conduct of the present political campaign. During the Cultural Revolution, scores of organisations sprang up in cities and towns, often warring among themselves and using violent methods. Meanwhile, the Peking municipal authorities have been accused of tearing down a poster which denounced by name a senior member of the city administration. The poster, written by Mrs Hsueh Pao-jen, one of the original activists of the present campaign in Peking, named Mr Chen Shu-huai as a sworn follower of the late Lin Piao. Mr Chen was last named as a standing member of the municipal committee of the Communist Party and a deputy secretary-general of the I Revolutionary Committee.
