Rolleston opposed
♦From Our Own Reporter) ROTORUA. By unanimous vote the annual conference of Federated Fanners opposed the establishment of a city at Rolleston. Mr J. C. Mitchell (Otago), whose province of the federation raised the matter, said that the proposed city did not fall within the scope of regional development. A new city would occupy fanning land when it had been shown that there was urban land available in Christchurch, and in other •mailer South Island centres.
A repetition of Wellington and Hutt Valley was likely, he said.
