Road-works cause delay

Traffic was delayed yesterday by road-works at the junction of Victoria Street, Papanui Road, and Bealey Avenue.

The Christchurch City Council’s traffic engineers’ department has asked motorists coming into central Christchurch to use another route for the next few days. Drainage and reconstruction work now being done in Bealey Avenue moved into the intersection area yesterday, and is being complicated by the presence of old tramlines set in the roadway and long since sealed over.

The chief traffic engineer (Mr M. L. Gadd) said yesterday that he was sorry for any inconvenience the work was i causing, and suggested I motorists try to plan a route 'which would avoid the junction.
