Maree Reid, aged 18, of Melbourne has no exhaust pollution, no noise and no parking problems as she does her shopping on an electric-powered Solo Electra bicycle. The bicycles are designed to be ridden at 16 miles an hour, and have a portable battery charger which can be plugged into normal power points. They hiive a range of 25 miles a charge, and take about 10 hours to recharge. Each charge costs about 4c.
