Austrians go to the polls today to ’hoose a new President in an election which will sharply test the prestige o f the Chancellor (Dr Bruno Kreisky). The five million electors will vote directly for a new Head of State to succeed President Jonas, who died in office last April after fulfilling the President's duties for nine years.
