Man loses fingers

A young man lost several fingers from his right hand in an accident with a meat mincer at Quality Meats, Ltd, 257 Lincoln Road, about 9 a.m. yesterday.

Alistair Harris, of 106 Hei Hei Road, was mincing meat when his arm became wedged in the machine. The machine had to be taken to pieces before his arm could be extricated.

A doctor was called to the shop to help Mr Harris, who was fully conscious through out the accident, and ambu lance men later gave Mr Harris a pain-killing drug. He was taken to Burwood Hospital, where he was in fairly satisfactory condition last evening.
