Painting to be lent to U.K.
A painting in the Robert | McDougall Art Gallery col-1 lection will be lent to the Ans Council of Great Britain for a major exhibition in’ April next year. The painting. “The Shoreditch Empire,” is by R. W. Sickert, who died in 1942 and who is regarded as one of the foremost British painters of his period. It will be displayed with other works by Sickert in an exhibition representing English music halls solely through the works of this artist. The exhibition, at the Hayward Gallery, will be part of a larger exhibition tracing the history of British theatre and is being held to coincide with the opening of the National Theatre. Rugby.—The French Rugby team has beaten a Buenos Aires combined side. 31-9. in the third match of its seven-match tour of Argentina. The French, who led 14-3 at half time, scored four tries to one by the Argentinian side.
