New school bus policy
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON. A new and flexible policy whereby school buses may pick up and set down pupils according to local conditions has been approved by the Cabinet. The Prime Minister (Mr Kirk) said that the present rules governing school bus use were too inflexible and led to absurdities.
School 'buses with empty seats often had to pass children and could not pick them up because the children lived too close to the school to meet the bus distance limit. The new rules would allow common sense to prevail.
