Kalmbach latest to be gaoled
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 18. Altogether 16 people once associated with President Nixon, the White House, or his 1972 re-election campaign have been charged in Watergate and related scandals.
Some have been sentenced, some have had sentencing deferred and others are awaiting trial. The latest to be sentenced is the President's former personal lawyer, Herbert Kalmbach, who was given concurrent sentences of six to 18 months and six months yesterday afternoon for violating election laws. Others sentenced so far are: Jeb Stuart Magruder, 10 months to four years in the Watergate cover-up case. Herbert Porter, served 30 days of a five-to-15 month sentence for cover-up. Egil Krogh, sentenced to six months in connection with the break-in at the office of the psychiatrist treating , the Pentagon papers defendant, Daniel Ellsberg. G. Gordon Liddy, sentenced to six years, eight
months to 20 years for his role in the break-in at the Democratic national committee headquarters exactly two years ago yesterday. E. Howard Hunt, sentenced to two-and-a-half to eight years and fined $lO,OOO for the Watergate break-in. Dwight Chapin, sentenced to 10 to 30 months for political dirty tricks. Awaiting sentence are: Frederick Larue, for the cover-up. John Dean, cover-up. Charles Colson, for the Ellsberg break-in case. Awaiting trial are: H. R. (Bob) Haldeman, for the cover-up. John Ehrlichman, cover-up and in Ellsberg break-in. Gordon Strachan, cover-up. Kenneth Parkinson, coverup. Robert Mardian, cover-up. John Mitchell, cover-up.
