REEF ORDEAL

Yesterday in Ballina, New South Wales, Miss Geraldine Yorke, of Auckland, was helped ashore by two of the crew of the Ata, which rescued her and her three companions from Middleton Reef. A first-hand account of the voyage and wreck of the yacht Sospan Fach, told by Miss Yorke, is printed on page 2.

Miss Yorke describes the rough voyage, and their ordeal for 52 days during which they sheltered in the hulk of a wrecked ship and lived on fish and crabs.

Miss Yorke told the whole story in an exclusive interview with Gavin Ellis.
