Board helping cheese venture
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 22. The Dairy Board will co-ordinate the establishment of a cheese-processing enterprise on behalf of the co-operative cheese manufacturing companies.
The chairman of the board (Mr A. L. Friis) told the N.Z.P.A. that the decision had ‘•nothing to do with Kraft,” the American corporation which earlier this year temporarily withdrew a bid to take over an existing processed cheese plant. The board was asked by the cheese manufacturers to co-ordinate the establishment of a processing enterprise. Manufacturers met to-
1 day at a meeting convened by e the board. j The board would decide as „ quickly as possible what actions to take, Mr Friis said. a But he could not say how . long it would be before a 3 start was made on the joint venture. The envisaged enterprise would be run on behalf of the >’ cheese industry to process 'j and package cheese for dis- - tribution within New Zea- - land and overseas, Mr Friis - said.
