More bills in March
Th- total of all commercial at the end of March was Si 13.2 m, compared with $110.6m in at the end of February, the Reserve Bank announced. Bills held in dealers’ portfolios in. teased sl.6m to 529.4 m, and other balances rose slm to 583.8 m.
Trade bills amounted to $12.8m of the total, while accommodation bills relating to trade were 520.6 m, those relating to bridging finance s4o. /m, and long-term finance accommodation bills stood at $34. Im.
New bills ’ssued and bills purchased by dealers during the month were $40.5m—57.3m more than during the previous month.
Selling rates offered for prime bills ranged from 7 to 9 per cent for 30 day terms to 81 to 10 per cent for 180 day terms.
