Situation: A front lies east to west across central New Zealand and a depression developing on this front in the Tasman Sea is moving east; an anticyclone west of Auckland is weakening. Forecast:

Canterbury: Light southerlies tending east or north-east: cloudy and cool; patches of light rain.

Marlborough: Moderate southerlies or easterlies; cloudy; occasional mist or rain; cool.

Nelson. Buller and Westland: North-easterlies freshening; cloudy with periods of rain; moderate temperatures.
