Cost of film
Sir, —Over the past few weeks I have had British visitors staying with me and naturally they have been taking many photographs, and this has raised some rather interesting facts. In Britain it is not necessary to pay for photographic film.
Take the case of a 126 20exposure cartridge, this is supplied free by the processor, the only fee being for developing and printing approximately £2.50 ($400) which compares favourably with local cost. But, local film costs in the region of $2. Could the major film distributors and processors explain why we in New Zealand are being charged for what is free in Britain. Incidentally the service is available through all the major companies and minor ones also. —Yours etc., SHUTTERBUG. March 29, 1974. [This letter was referred to Kodak (N.Z.) Ltd for comment but no reply has been received.]
