Tender let for centre
A §1,932,671 tender by the i Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd, has been accepted by the Christchurch Technical Institute for the con- • struction of a building centre in Ensors Road, Linwood. The director of the institute (Mr C. V. Gallagher), said at a meeting of the institute’s council this week that it was expected it would take a little more than two years to build the new centre.
The building, of 61,162 square feet, will be adjacent to sports fields run by the Christchurch Secondary Schools Council. A feature of the centre will be three large construcItion halls in which full-size houses will be built by trainees.
The centre will also contain drawing studios, painting and plastering areas, a student common room, and administration and staff facilities. Laboratories will be provided for concrete testing. building studies, and • timber technology,
