Auckland recalls Bailey

(N.Z. Press Association; AUCKLAND. R. B. Bailey, the controver-' sial former Kiwi, has been recalled to the Auckland Rugby league team —and as captain—for the match against Brisbane next Saturday. it will be Bailey’s first appearance for Auckland since 1970 when he played against Waikato at Huntly and was sent off. But after Auckland’s disappointing, 6-21, loss to New South Wales Country at Carlaw Park on Saturday, the selectors could no longer ignore the brilliant player who has no equal both in ability and crowd popularity. Country’s win over Auckland on Saturday was the side’s first in five attempts. And it gave the Australians an unbeaten record in their three-match New Zealand tour. M. Croning (2), A. McMahon, L. Drew and J. Penno scored tries for Country, and sions and Drew and Croning a dropped goals. Auckland’s points came from three penalties by W. Collicoat.
