SMITHFIELD MARKET
There was little change in
the over-all meat trade on] the Smithfield market last! week, the Meat Board re-’ ports. Beef continued in plentiful ■ supply because of higher domestic offerings and the increased availability of low priced forequarters from the continent. This meant that the relative price of beef to iamb continued to be attractive to buyers and Consequently influenced the inquiry for New Zealand lamb which fell somewhat on the previous week. To maintain steady values under these circumstances daily offerings of lamb were reduced to meet demand.
