Busy time for C.S.A. gallery
This is an unusually busy week for the C.S.A. gallery, which has five exhibitions showing -— three one- i man shows, a two-man show, and a collection of embroidery by the Canterbury Em- i broiderers’ Guild.
The two-man show features paintings by Neville Sinclair and sculpture by Llewelyn Summers. It will end on May 12, as will the show by Tony Geddes of some of his recent work. However, the number of exhibitions on show will be made up to four again on May 14, . when the Christchurch painter, Alan Pearson, opens his latest oneman show, and before the month is out another four exhibitions will be opened. One of these will be the annual C.S.A. graphic and crafts show; another will feature a collection of 30 hand-made Tibetan carpets, I some, of which may be for sale to provide funds for Tibetan refugees. These carpets are made in the traditional style, to traditional designs, and it takes a craftsman a month to make one 6ft by 3ft carpet. Most of the carpets in the exhibition will be this, size, but their will be two 7ft by 4ft, one 6ft by 6ft, and several small bedside rugs and chair mats. Another exhibition to open later this month will feature sculpture by Rosemary
[Johnson, of Christchurch, in her “Clouds” series, which was shown in Wellington last year. In this show, the “Cloud” pieces will be suspended in a confined space, “so that there is interaction between them and the surrounding walls,” writes the sculptor in a note about the show. The “Clouds” are light, and will move with air curirents in the gallery. i Among the current exhibitions, there are paintings by Hugo Struyk, of Dunedin, land photographs by Glen [Busch, of Auckland.
