Lower dairy production
(N.Z. Press Association; WELLINGTON. During February 9916 tonnes of butter was graded for export in New Zealand, a fall of 4522 tonnes (31.31 per cent) on February, 1973, according to figures given by the Dairy Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. For the season from June 1 to the end of February, 141,240 tonnes of butter was graded for export, a decrease of 10,108 tonnes (6.67 per cent) on the corresponding period of the previous season.
In February, 7658 tonnes of cheese was graded for export, a fall of 1481 tonnes (16.2 per cent). For the season from June 1 to the end of February, 61,510 tonnes of cheese was graded for export, a fall of 6353 tonnes (9.35 per cent). When the figures are converted to butterfat equivalent, the total for the season to the end of February is 140,008 tonnes — down 10,936 tonnes (7.25 per cent) on the corresponding period of the previous season.
