Kidnappers’ note

Hopes for the early release of the Genoa Magistrate, Mr Mario Sossi, faded today, when the police released a message from his kidnappers, linking his freedom with that of imprisoned political extremists. A note from the Red Brigade, which claimed responsibility for the abduction of Mr Sossi 10 days ago. said: “The irrenounceable point of the Red Brigade’s political programme is the liberation of all political prisoner comrades.” The message specifically mentioned members of the self-styled October 22 extremist group, 16 members of which were imprisoned after a court case in which Mr Sossi acted as public prosecutor. — Genoa, April 29.
