Gold medal for stamps

The Post Office has won a gold medal at an international stamp display in New York. The award is the second the Post Office has won in New York. The successful entry contained a variety of stamps featuring Maori art, technology, Royalty, New Zealand [scenes, and commemorative [issues. A Post Office graphic artist I (Mr J. Waibel) designed the display using a “river” of stamps. “My design was based on )the idea of the long white icloud,” he said. “The continuous moving line.also rebates to Polynesian decorative art forms. I think it was [the simplicity that made the ’.display successful.” New Zealand won its first ; international gold medal in 1972. At present, it has stamp 'displays in Los Angeles and Tokyo, and in June will have a further display in Switzerland.
