There should be more than 50 local entries in the four divisions of the R.A.T.A. Awards, which will be announced later this year. The four categories are:— male vocalist, female vocalist, new face, and best group, which gives plenty of scope for everybody, including the Bert Spomfrett Industrial Injuries Compensation Board Male Voice Choir and Tambourine Band. This is a littleknown group which specialises in singing Lands and Survey Department scale maps, especially a four-part harmony version of the ever popular “North Canterbury High Country, showing Fault Lines and Moa Tracks.”
Sandy Denny is rejoining Fairport Convention—the band she left in 1969. She appeared with the band during their successful tour here early this year but was officially, at that stage, still a solo artist. Now she is rejoining the band for a Scandinavian tour in April and an American tour from mid-April to the end of May. The fine bluegrass band, the Dillards, have just released a new album overseas, called “A Tribute to the American Duck."
