NORWICH. Young New Zealand tennis' plavers had a busy opening day in the Barleywater tennis tournament at Norwich. Two of them. G. Slater and C. Lewis, reached the third round of the men’s singles. Slater beat K. Moore (Britain), 6-0. 6-0. and Lewis defeated 11. Bond (Britain), 6-1. 6-4. C. England won his first match, 8-6. 7-5. against T. Onibokun (Nigeria), but was later beaten, 6-1. 6-1, by F. Merwe (South Africa l R. -L Healey went down to J. B. Howarth (England), 0-6, 2-6. In the women’s singles, the New Zealand girl. Miss S. Meachen, lost to A. Coe ‘Britain). 14-6, 3-6. 1
