(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright! BURBANK ' (California).
The world heavyweight boxing champion, George Foreman, thought about his challenger, Muhammad Ali, for a few seconds, then said: “He might not run when he fights me.”
“He is a big man and he might stand up and fight,” Associated Press reported. Foreman did not speak with 1 conviction, and added: “But he has been running in his last few fights and I will be
training to go 15 rounds against him.”
Foreman and Ali are due to fight in Zaire for a guaranteed ssm in September. The champion said he had signed and expected the fight to go on as scheduled. Asked if Ali would be the toughest man .he has met, Foreman answered: “I cannot tell that until after the fight, but there is no-one I would rather fight than Ali.”
Foreman intimated that he does not think the boxing public fully appreciates his talents/'
“When I beat Ali they will probably say I should have fought him 10 years ago,” said the champion, who was only 16 years old a decade ago.
Even so. Foreman termed as wishful thinking a question about who he would fight after beating Ali. “We’ll wait and see,’’ he said.
