Moto-cross may be off

The heavy rain on Tuesday has placed the final round of the South Island gold star moto-cross series in jeopardy.

Good entries have been received for the final round to be held at Quarry’s farm, Halswell, on Sunday, but the secretary of the Tai Tapu club (Mr C. A. Treneary) said that he had inspected the circuit yesterday, and found it seriously affected by rain. “It took me all my time to get to the gate by car—it’s all mud,” he said.

However, it was possible that the meeting could be held—if there was rfo more rain before the week-end.

Bowls.— J. Garvin’s Dallington four was runner-up in the Oarnaru championship fours during Easter. His team was C. Ford (2), E. Boar. (3). and L. Milner (lead), and was one of the 48 Canterbury rinks competing. Thirty-five of them qualified for post-section play.
