Shop broken into

An intruder or intruders who broke into the Lambskin Baa shop in Tancred Street, Ashburton, some time during Tuesday night took the cash register containing $lO7 in cash, and woollen and wool-lined clothing valued at $331. The cash register, valued at $250, was recovered’ yesterday morning in the picnic area at the Ashburton traffic bridge, where it had been abandoned after being forced open and the money removed.

Entry to the shop was gained by jemmying open the lock on the front sliding door.

The clothing and other woollen goods included ladies’ coats, men’s jackets, hats, a suede men’s cap, sheepskin scuffs, and handbags.
