TENNIS TEAM TO GO TO AUST.
Fourteen tennis players from Canterbury secondary schools will travel to Australia in May to play in the well-known New South Wales school and age championships and to meet various teams.
The trip is a result of the; visit to Christchurch earlier this year of the team from: the New South Wales Com-i bined High Schools’ Sports; Association. After the Australian team returned, an invitation wasissued by that association to. the Canterbury Secondary i Schools’ Tennis Association. The invitation was accepted and a sub-committee from the Canterbury secondary schools’ association and ;from the Canterbury Junior! Lawn Tennis Association has i prepared for the visit. 1 Sixteen schools submitted 59 nominations for the team and trials have been held among these players, who included several from Timaru and Ashburton, over the last few weeks. I On the basis of perform-' lance in these trials the fol-1 ; lowing team was announced I on Saturday:— Under 19 and Pnder 17 boys C. Brading (St Bede’s College;. P.
